Marmaris has no airport of its own. Holidaymakers fly into one of three: Dalaman (about 95–100 km away), Milas-Bodrum (about 130–135 km) or Izmir Adnan Menderes (about 250 km). Dalaman is the closest, but the right choice depends on your flight, the bay your hotel is in and how you plan to get around. This guide puts the three airports side by side on distance, drive time, public transport and picking up a hire car at the airport, shows which one makes sense for your hotel and points you to the detailed road guide for each airport.

Is There an Airport in Marmaris?
No. Marmaris has no airport of its own; people searching for "Marmaris airport" usually mean Dalaman Airport. Visitors flying to Marmaris use one of three airports. Dalaman and Milas-Bodrum are in Muğla province, like Marmaris itself; Izmir Adnan Menderes is in the neighbouring province of Izmir.
All three are large airports. According to 2025 figures announced by Turkey's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Izmir Adnan Menderes handled about 12.7 million passengers, Dalaman about 5.6 million and Milas-Bodrum about 4.4 million. Because the number of flights changes with the season, check with your airline which airport it flies to on your dates.
Dalaman, Bodrum and Izmir: The Three Airports Compared
Distances and times in the table are driving values from the airport to Marmaris centre (Netsel Marina). We measured them with two separate routing services; traffic and the summer rush can make the drive longer.
| Airport | Distance to Marmaris | Drive time | Public transport |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dalaman (DLM) | 95–100 km | 1.5–2 hours | Marmaris listed on the HAVAŞ route |
| Milas-Bodrum (BJV) | 130–135 km | 2 h – 2 h 20 min | No direct Marmaris line found |
| Izmir Adnan Menderes (ADB) | About 250 km | 3 h 05 min – 3 h 20 min | No direct line found; change at the bus station |
In short: Dalaman is the shortest drive and the only airport with a bus link to Marmaris. Milas-Bodrum is about 35 km further but the road is easy. Arriving via Izmir works too, but the drive takes over three hours and part of it is a toll motorway.
Whichever airport you land at
Dalaman, Bodrum and Izmir Airport can all be chosen as pickup points on the booking screen; the delivery fee is added to the total automatically.
Dalaman Airport (DLM): The Nearest Airport to Marmaris

Dalaman Airport is the closest airport to Marmaris. It lies about 5 km from the town of Dalaman. The road to Marmaris runs through Ortaca and Köyceğiz, then after the Gökova junction near Akyaka follows a forested mountain road down into Marmaris: about 95–100 km and 1.5–2 hours in normal traffic.
According to DHMİ, Turkey's airports authority, the airport is served by HAVAŞ and MUTTAŞ shuttle buses, the municipal dolmuş, taxis and hire cars. On the official HAVAŞ website Marmaris appears only on the Dalaman route; the timetable will not always fit your flight, so check the current times with the operator.
- Plus: the shortest drive, and the closest airport to İçmeler, Turunç and Akyaka as well.
- Watch out: in summer the road can be busy in the afternoons and at weekends, and there is a winding mountain stretch before Marmaris.
- Hire car: Traffix Rent a Car delivers cars at Dalaman Airport with a booking made in advance.
For the road, stops and transport options see our Dalaman Airport to Marmaris guide; for delivery details see our Dalaman Airport car rental page.
Open Dalaman – Marmaris directionsMilas-Bodrum Airport (BJV): Closer to Milas than to Bodrum

Despite its name, the airport is near Milas: according to DHMİ it is about 17 km from Milas centre and about 37 km from Bodrum centre. The road to Marmaris does not enter Bodrum; it runs through Milas, Yatağan and Muğla for about 130–135 km, and maps show 2 hours to 2 hours 20 minutes. Allowing 2.5 hours with a break is realistic.
We found no direct bus from the airport to Marmaris; on the official pages the HAVAŞ Bodrum route only goes to the town centre. If you travel by public transport, plan on changing at Muğla bus station.
- Plus: flight options may differ from Dalaman's; the road skips Bodrum town, with stops such as Stratonikeia, Muğla and Akyaka on the way.
- Watch out: about 35 km and roughly half an hour longer than from Dalaman.
- Hire car: we also deliver at Milas-Bodrum Airport with a booking made in advance.
The route, stops and sample plans are in our Bodrum Airport to Marmaris guide; delivery details are on our Bodrum Airport car rental page.
Open Bodrum Airport – Marmaris directionsIzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB): Most Flights, Longest Drive

Izmir Adnan Menderes has the most passengers of the three, but it is about 250 km from Marmaris. The road takes the tolled section of the Izmir–Aydın motorway, then runs through Aydın, Çine, Yatağan and Muğla. Maps show 3 hours 05 minutes to 3 hours 20 minutes; with breaks and summer traffic, allow 3.5–4 hours. There is a toll-free alternative, but it adds about 35–40 minutes.
We found no direct service from Izmir Airport to Marmaris. Travellers going by coach first get to Izmir's main bus station and take a Marmaris coach from there; with the changes, it is a long journey.
- Plus: as the busiest of the three, it usually offers more flights; you can plan stops such as Ephesus and Şirince on the way.
- Watch out: the 300 km daily allowance. The airport–Marmaris drive alone is about 250 km; a detour such as Ephesus can take you past 300 km.
- Hire car: Izmir Airport delivery is also by advance booking; the handover time is agreed with our team around your flight.
For the Ephesus detour, the motorway and the kilometre count see our Izmir Airport to Marmaris guide; for delivery see our Izmir Airport car rental page.
Open Izmir Airport – Marmaris directionsWhich Airport Is Closest to Your Hotel?
Not everyone heading for Marmaris stays in the town itself. If you are staying in İçmeler, Turunç, Selimiye, Datça or Akyaka, the journey changes. The table shows the driving distance and map time from each airport to the centre of that resort; the results of two routing services are given as ranges.
| Destination | From Dalaman | From Milas-Bodrum | From Izmir |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marmaris centre | 97 km · 1 h 35–50 min | 130–135 km · 2 h – 2 h 20 min | 245–250 km · 3 h 05–20 min |
| İçmeler | 105 km · 1 h 45 min – 2 h 05 min | 138–141 km · 2 h 10–30 min | 252–253 km · 3 h 30 min |
| Turunç | 116–117 km · 2 h 05–25 min | 150–153 km · 2 h 35–45 min | 264–265 km · 3 h 50 min |
| Selimiye | 139 km · 2 h 15–40 min | 172–175 km · 2 h 50–55 min | 286–287 km · 4 h – 4 h 05 min |
| Datça | 167 km · 2 h 30–40 min | 200–203 km · 2 h 50 min – 3 h 10 min | 314–315 km · 4 h 05–15 min |
| Akyaka | 73 km · 1 h 10–30 min | 103–105 km · 1 h 35–50 min | 217 km · 2 h 50–55 min |
Dalaman is the closest option for every destination. Coming from Milas-Bodrum usually adds about half an hour, from Izmir about 1.5 hours. The road from Izmir to Datça is over 300 km; if you drive it in one day in a hire car, keep the daily kilometre allowance in mind. For the resorts themselves see our İçmeler, Turunç, Selimiye, Datça and Akyaka pages.
Picking Up a Hire Car at the Airport: What to Know
If you want to drive to Marmaris and explore the bays on your own schedule, collecting the car right at the airport is the most practical option. Traffix Rent a Car delivers at all three airports. What you need to know:
- Book in advance: airport delivery is by booking. Our team confirms your request and agrees the handover time around your flight.
- Delivery hours: every day 08:00–00:00. If your flight lands outside these hours, please contact us beforehand.
- Delivery fee: each airport has its own fee, added to the total on the booking screen automatically. Return to the same point and it is charged once; drop off somewhere else and it is charged twice.
- Kilometres: the standard allowance is 300 km a day, with a per-kilometre charge beyond it. If you will return the car at the airport you arrived at, count the drive back as well.
- Credit card: not required; the deposit can be paid in cash. The rental is paid at delivery in cash, by card or by bank transfer.
- Documents: a valid driving licence and ID (a passport for foreign guests). Minimum driver age is 22–25 depending on the car group, with a licence held for at least 3 years.
- Cancellation: free up to 24 hours before delivery.
Driving on a foreign licence? See our international driving permit guide. All conditions are on our Rental Terms page, and renting without a credit card is explained on our no credit card car hire page. Current prices are in our Marmaris car hire prices guide.

Getting from the Airport to Marmaris: Hire Car, Transfer, Bus or Taxi
There are four options. Which one suits you depends on how much you plan to get around and which airport you land at. We do not list prices or timetables because they change often.
| Option | Best when | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Hire car | You stay several days and want to explore bays and villages; families | Book ahead; 300 km a day |
| Private transfer | You only need to reach the hotel and won't drive | You need new transport for every outing |
| Bus | Solo, budget travel; easiest from Dalaman | Timetables; changes from Bodrum and Izmir |
| Taxi | Short, unplanned arrivals | Fares can be high over long distances; agree first |
If you plan to see more than one bay, beach or village, a single hire car is usually more flexible and better value than arranging transport for every trip. If you will stay at the hotel, have a look at our transfer page too.
The Gökova Junction and the Sakar Pass: The Last 28 km Where All Three Roads Meet

Whichever airport you come from, the last stretch into Marmaris is the same: the three roads meet at the Gökova junction near Akyaka, about 28 km from Marmaris centre. Coming from Bodrum or Izmir, you first descend from Muğla over the Sakar Pass; the road from Dalaman arrives from Köyceğiz across the Gökova plain. After the junction the road winds up and down through pine forest; easy by day, but it needs more care at night or when you are tired.
- After a late landing, set off rested and slow down on the bends.
- Topping up fuel on the Muğla or Gökova side is a comfortable option.
- The Sakar Pass looks out over the Gulf of Gökova; only stop in safe lay-bys.
Coming via Rhodes: Fly and Take the Ferry

Some holidaymakers fly to the Greek island of Rhodes and cross to Marmaris by ferry. According to the operators' websites, the Marmaris–Rhodes crossing takes about 60 minutes, in summer there are sailings almost every day, and far fewer in the other seasons.
The ferries use Marmaris Cruise Port (Marmaris Liman İşletmesi), about 100 metres past the Netsel Marina entrance. The operator asks passengers to check in at least 1 hour before departure and to collect boarding cards before passport control. We could not confirm whether vehicles are carried on this line or what the winter timetable is; check sailings, tickets and visa rules with the operator and official sources.
Open Marmaris Cruise Port on the mapWhich Airport Should You Choose? A Quick Decision Guide
- If fares and times are similar: Dalaman. The shortest drive and the easiest transport.
- If a flight to Bodrum is clearly cheaper or better timed: Milas-Bodrum. The drive is only about half an hour longer.
- If only Izmir has a suitable flight, or you want to see Ephesus on the way: Izmir. Set aside half a day for the journey.
- If you land late at night: keep the drive short and agree the car handover time with us in advance.
- If you travel with children: choose the airport with the shortest drive and plan a break on the way.
- If you are staying in Datça or Selimiye: even from Dalaman the drive is about 2.5 hours, so don't pack your arrival day with plans.
Distances and times are approximate and vary with traffic and season.
