Two roads run from Marmaris to Antalya: the inland road via Korkuteli is about 319–320 km and 4.5 hours, while the coastal road via Kaş and Kemer is 411–415 km and about 6 hours. The coastal road is one of Turkey's finest: Patara, Kalkan, Kaputaş Beach, Kaş, Demre and Olympos all lie on it. In this guide you will find distances and times we measured with two services, 2- and 4-day routes planned around the 300 km daily limit, the night rule on turtle beaches and what to know when you travel in a hire car.

Two Roads to Antalya: Inland or Along the Coast?
Both roads follow the D400 from Marmaris through Köyceğiz, Dalaman, Göcek and Fethiye. After Fethiye they split: the fast road turns onto the D350 at Seydikemer and descends to Antalya via Korkuteli, while the coastal road stays on the D400 through Kalkan, Kaş, Demre, Finike and Kemer.
| Road | Distance and time | When |
|---|---|---|
| Inland (D350, Korkuteli) | 319–320 km, 4 h 30 min – 4 h 40 min | To reach or leave Antalya quickly |
| Coast (D400, Kaş) | 411–415 km, about 6 h | To see the coast, with at least one night on the way |
In winter the high passes on the inland road can get snow and ice; check the Highways Directorate's road status before you set off. The coastal road does not climb as high as the inland road, but Kalkan–Kaş is narrow and winding; the Highways bulletin of 9 October 2026 reported works on the Seydikemer–Kalkan–Kaş road.

Our rentals have a daily limit of 300 km; every kilometre above it is charged under our rental terms. That is why these routes should be done with an overnight stay, not as day trips.
- Marmaris–Kaş–Marmaris is about 456 km; in one day it goes over the 300 km limit.
- Marmaris–Kaputaş–Marmaris is about 416 km; Kaputaş is also too far for a day trip.
- With one night in Kaş you drive about 230–240 km each day.
- The inland drive back from Antalya is 319–320 km; that day you go about 20 km over the limit.
After Fethiye: Saklıkent and Patara

For Fethiye and Ölüdeniz see our Fethiye guide. After Fethiye the road crosses the Seydikemer plain; Saklıkent Gorge lies a little inland from it.
Patara was the capital of Lycia in Roman times, and its 18 km beach is one of the most important nesting sites of Caretta caretta turtles. In the ancient city you can see the assembly building, the theatre and a lighthouse from Nero's time; entry is ticketed and Turkish citizens can use the MüzeKart. You reach the main beach through the ancient city's entrance gate.

Kalkan is an old harbour town built on a hillside; its white houses and small harbour make a good stop. 6 km after Kalkan, where a gorge opens to the sea, comes Kaputaş Beach; from Kaputaş it is 20 km to Kaş.
- You reach the beach by steps from the road; entry is free, with toilets and a kiosk at the top.
- Cars mostly park at the roadside; in summer the spaces fill early.
- Turn on your hazard lights when you stop at the roadside and never stop on a bend; the road around the gorge bridge is narrow.
- The sea can be wavy and gets deep quickly; take care with children.
Things to Do in Kaş: Ancient Theatre, Lycian Sarcophagus and Kekova

Kaş, 227–228 km from Marmaris, is the best place to stay the night. The town is small and walkable; leave the car where you are staying and explore on foot.
- Antiphellos Theatre: an ancient theatre facing the sea, about 500 metres west of the centre; lovely at sunset.
- The Lycian sarcophagus on Uzunçarşı: a 4th-century-BC tomb with lion heads on its lid.
- Kekova: the sunken city and the Simena shore are seen on a boat tour; tours leave from Kaş and Üçağız. Swimming and diving over the sunken ruins are banned.
- Meis: the Greek island opposite Kaş is a passenger trip only; a hire car cannot leave Turkey and stays in Kaş.
Demre (Myra) and Olympos: Rock Tombs, St Nicholas Church, the Chimaera

From Kaş to Demre is 45–48 km, and from Demre to Çıralı about 76–78 km. This stretch winds along the coast; after Finike and Kumluca the road climbs into the mountains towards Kemer.
- Myra: Lycian tombs carved into the cliff and a Roman theatre; ticketed.
- St Nicholas Memorial Museum (St Nicholas Church): the church built over the tomb of St Nicholas; ticketed.
- Andriake: Myra's ancient harbour; its granary houses the Museum of Lycian Civilizations.
- Olympos and the Chimaera (Yanartaş): the Olympos ancient city lies at the end of Çıralı beach; the ever-burning flames of the Chimaera are about a half-hour uphill walk and look best at dusk.
Turkish citizens can use the MüzeKart at most ancient sites; opening hours change with the season, so check muze.gov.tr before you go.

From Çıralı to Kemer is 36 km, and from Kemer to central Antalya 45 km; this stretch has tunnels but no toll gates. For Kaleiçi, Hadrian's Gate and the ancient cities around Antalya, see our Antalya page. If you would rather walk the whole route, the Lycian Way is a waymarked hiking trail of about 540 km between Ölüdeniz and Antalya; it is not a road.
